Hi there!

Since November 2019, I have owned and operated Playful Communication independently. I started my practice so I could continue to serve families while also being present for my own. In an effort to continue that mission and keep a manageable caseload, I'm seeking a passionate and kind pediatric speech-language pathologist to help me serve families throughout Waxhaw!

About the role

This would be a part-time building caseload with very flexible scheduling and potential for full-time if desired. My goal is to extend the same flexibility that I have gained through private practice to YOU! Applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 10 sessions per week (once caseload builds). Beyond 10 sessions, work as much or as little as your life allows.

The ideal candidate would

  • Have experience working with the pediatric population and thoroughly enjoy working with children ages birth to 10.

  • Be comfortable working closely with parents and caregivers as vital members of the team.

  • Have experience working within early intervention programming, caregiver coaching, and “bagless” therapy, or willingness to learn! I am happy to provide training and mentoring!

  • Be willing to provide services to children wherever it most benefits them, including home, preschool/daycare, or our boutique-style office in downtown Waxhaw.

  • Value the benefits and evidenced-based practice of seeing young children in their natural environment.

  • Be a self-starter and possess the organizational and time-management skills to operate a personal and independent work schedule.

  • Be proficient with assessment, treatment, and all necessary clinical documentation.

  • Be a team player and willing to work with Kelsey to develop and execute community programming.

  • Have a growth mindset and willingness to learn through meaningful continuing education and team collaboration.

  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited program

  • Minimum 1 year of experience serving the pediatric population; experience serving birth-3 is preferred, but training is available!

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence

  • North Carolina state license

  • Must pass criminal background check

  • Must have valid NC or SC driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Must be available for a minimum of 10 sessions a week

  • Provide high quality, evidence based care to pediatric clients and their families

  • Provide therapeutic support that is positive, warm, and engaging

  • Conduct assessments and complete appropriate documentation

  • Create individualized plans of care for treatment

  • Maintain appropriate data and session documentation (i.e. daily SOAP notes, progress notes as needed or required by insurance, and updated plans of care as needed)

  • Prioritize client privacy by adhering to HIPAA guidelines

  • Hourly pay with compensation for direct AND indirect aspects of client care; get paid for ALL the work you do!

  • Flexible scheduling; YOU set your schedule and have the ability to put life and family first

  • A clean, comfortable, and home-like office environment with therapist workspace (expanding Oct. 1st!)

  • Therapy and assessment materials provided with space to keep your personal supplies

  • An administrative assistant (and SLP!) that tackles smaller jobs so you can focus on providing excellent therapy

  • A boss and co-worker that “gets it,” enjoys learning, and values self-care, time to enjoy life, and time for the people you love

*Additional benefits available with a caseload of 25 sessions per week

Does that sound like a good fit for you?!
